It has been a busy and exciting year for the UCSB chapter of Engineers Without= Borders! Between advancing our solar power and water purification projects = in Peru and launching a new project in Mali, we’ve hardly had time to reflect on how much has been accomplished. B= ut that’s exactly what makes our organization so unique among nonprofits= —we re= ally get things done around here.

Engineers Without Borders is a humanitarian organization that partners with developing communities worldwide in order to improve their quality of life. Engineers = Without Borders—UCSB was founded in 2003 by stud= ents seeking to use their skills to make a difference where it is needed most. O= ur mission is to build relationships with disadvantaged communities and develop environmentally and economically sustainable projects that will have a dire= ct effect on the quality of residents lives. Furthe= rmore, our team of volunteers implement the projects an= d see them through to completion, ensuring quality control and successful results. Our efforts have clearly paid off: In 2006, we were honored to receive the Engineers Without Borders Sustainable Legacy Awa= rd for our work in Peru.

In less than four years, o= ur chapter has grown to (x) members and we have launched (x) projects in (x) countries. In addition, we promote sustainable development in our own commu= nity by hosting educational events and lectures, and consulting on environmental projects. If you share our vision, and we believe you do, please read on and learn how you can be a part of our dynamic team of students, scholars, and professionals.

As a volunteer-operated organization, we are entirely dependent on the support of generous community members and companies with an interest in humanitarian efforts. While our dedicated volunteers provide their engineering skills and time, working hands-on to design and implement projects, our sponsors provide the crucial funding that makes all our efforts possible. Funding is needed for travel equipment and supplies for each project. Donations can be made in the form = of money, equipment, tools, materials or services, especially technical traini= ng or travel arrangements.
